Numbers to make you think about going nude

I'm not an enormous fan of Twitter. Too much seems to happen too quickly for my knackered brain so although I have 433 followers for my main account and I follow 462 people, I mainly use it as a means of finding useful stuff which I can link to while using other social-media formats. Occasionally,  I retweet things I find interesting and even less occasionally, I download photos to my phone.

One of the most useful ways in which I use Twitter is for finding out interesting facts about naturism and social nudity. A lot of the people I follow, from all over the world, are naturists themselves, or the official accounts of naturist clubs, resorts, associations or other naturist bloggers.

Sometimes, those people send out memes which nail a point, using a few words and a picture that I (being an old-fashioned words-journalist) could take 500 words to nail. It happened this week in relation to the point I've made here previously about the connection between naturism and sexuality. It was a picture of a naked (and, admittedly, attractive) man and woman holding hands. The camera was pointing plainly at their genitals; the lady was fully-shaven, the men had a penis which was of an impressive length even though it was obviously flaccid.

Above and below the picture were the words: “The average person spends 0.45% of their life having sex. So why are we so hung up on hiding body parts that aren’t used for sex 99.55% of the time?”

I showed it to an American friend of mine, a fellow stroke-survivor who is becoming increasingly interested in naturism (probably due to my influence….) but is being held back by the puritanical American-Italian attitudes of her family and husband. She laughed, in a good way, then said: “Yes, I guess that’s true”

As our conversation continued, she suggested that I should write about it in this blog. So I have……And I would encourage you to search out that meme on Twitter, think about what it says and act on it.

Go nude this weekend, even if it just around your house or in your garden. Because that's what I'll be doing.
